2020 Summer Catalog - LIVE

2020 Summer School

Update - May 11, 2020

Over the last few weeks members of West Hartford Public Schools have been working towards developing a plan for the 2020 Summer School Programs that will help students continue in the advancement of their learning while also keeping them safe. Unfortunately, this year, we have had to cancel some summer offerings and have limited enrollment solely to students who attend West Hartford Public Schools. We hope the information below will help you with your summer planning.

Important Dates for the 2020 Summer School

With last day of school being June 18, we are able to maintain the scheduled dates for the starting and ending of each class.  This means that Semester 1 classes will begin on Monday, June 22 as originally planned. All dates are correctly identified on the registration pages.

Presentation of Curriculum

Courses will presented through an online platform using Google Classroom.  In this synchronous and asynchronous distance learning environment, students will be expected to participate daily in virtual classes as well as be provided opportunities to work in small groups and individually.  Teachers will also be available for regularly scheduled office hours for added support.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of the environment and program changes, this year, we will not be able to offer any middle school courses or SAT prep classes.  Families that have already registered and paid for these courses will receive a full refund that is inclusive of the registration fee.

Course Schedules

This summer classes will be offered during both morning and evening sessions.  Students will be allowed to take one course during a morning session and one class during an evening session.

Morning classes will begin at 8:00 with a 30 minute office hour and then have a mandatory class meeting beginning promptly at 8:30.

Evening classes with a 4:30pm start time will begin with a 30 minute office hour and then have a mandatory class meeting beginning promptly at 5:00.

Evening classes with a 6:00pm start time will begin with class promptly at 6:00.  Students will be able to attend office hours from 7:30 - 8:00.

If you have any questions at this time, please feel free to email me at and I will be happy to assist you.

Take care and stay safe.

Collaborating Towns- Important Update:

This year, the 2020 West Hartford Inter-district Summer High School will accept registrations for students of the West Hartford Public Schools only.  Due to the impact of COVID-19 WHPS will not be able to feasibly and effectively enroll students who attend schools outside of the district.  Families are encouraged to contact the school counseling department within their respective districts to explore alternative summer academic program options.

Course Cancellation Policy

Specific courses may be modified or cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Decisions on the cancellation of a course due to insufficient enrollment may be made up to 2 days prior to the start of the course, in which a full refund would be granted.
